November 17th, 2008Star Trek Trailer #2 Now Online

The new trailer for the J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek film is now available through Apple. Maybe it’s just me, but the beginning of that trailer reminded me a lot of Phantom Menace. Ew.

Were you aware that Ingrid Michaelson has a new album that is available in stores and online? Is true. It’s called “Be OK,” and it’s a collection of eleven tracks that will stay in your head all day. It’s so good that I’m giving it my “Would Recommend to Others” seal of approval. Yes.

If you only know Ingrid from her breakout hitThe Way I Am,” you should really have a listen to her new single “Be OK.” Yes, those are links to the free YouTube videos. You’re welcome.

The “Be OK” Tour: Ingrid will appear at the Theatre of Living Arts on 23 November with Newton Faulkner and David Ford for an event she’s calling “Ballroom Madness.” Her intention is for the audience to dress in formal attire as through the show were a dance. This idea was borne of her last Philly show when she saw the TLA’s chandeliers and remarked at how fancy the venue is.

Previously with Ingrid: If you just can’t wait for the live show on the 23rd, you can listen online to Ingrid’s live WXPN show.

October 20th, 2008Pumpkin Fail

I carved a pumpkin at Nicole’s Pumpkin Carving Party on Saturday. I used a stencil of a vampire biting a woman’s neck, but as it turned out, I made two few awkward mistakes:

  1. I accidentally rotated the stencil about 90 degrees counter-clockwise, so instead, it actually looks like these two are in flagrante delicto. I don’t think my neighbors will much like me displaying this scene to the local children.
  2. I made a little carving error, and it looks like the female victim has an Adam’s apple. I guess the joke is really on that vampire.

October 13th, 2008Ticking Boxes

I very much enjoyed this question that I saw on a survey that I took for electric car manufacturer Aptera:

I’m not a nerd; I just play one on the Internet.

October 8th, 2008DVDs Separated at Birth?

My car turns ten years old next year, so I’ve been toying with the idea of checking out new cars. I’d really love a powerful, all-wheel-drive electric car, but I only know of one like that, and it’s no longer in production.

Here’s a commercial for it:

That’s right. I want a real-life car modeled after Galoob’s “The Animal” RC Car. I mean, it’s electric *and* it has claws in its tires! That’s totally bad-ass!

Tire Claws are an elegant solution to any automobile emergency. Think about it:

  • Stuck in the mud? Answer: Tire Claws.
  • Flat tire? Answer: Tire Claws.
  • Mob of deer blocking road? Answer: Tire Claws. This will also solve the problem of what to eat for dinner. Answer: Venison sliced into bite-size pieces by Tire Claws.

Are you listening, Detroit? Let’s make it happen.
